"""As one of the reporters who helped expose the Iran-Contra scandal for The Associated Press in the mid-1980s, I was distressed by the silliness and propaganda that had come to pervade American journalism. I feared, too, that the decline of the U.S. press foreshadowed disasters that would come when journalists failed to alert the public about impending dangers. Also by 1995, documents were emerging that put the history of the 1980s in a new and more troubling light. Yet, there were fewer and fewer media outlets interested in that history. The memories of Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush were enveloped in warm-and-fuzzy myths that represented another kind of danger: false history that could lead to mistaken political judgments in the future."""

HISTORY — Monthly Review began publication in New York City in May 1949. The first issue featured the lead article “Why Socialism?” by Albert Einstein. From the beginning, Monthly Review spoke for a critical but spirited socialism, independent of any political organization. In an era of Cold War repression, the magazine published pioneering analyses of political economy, imperialism, and Third World struggles, drawing on the rich legacy of Marxist thought without being bound to any narrow view or party line. The McCarthy-led inquisition targeted MR‘s original editors, Paul Sweezy and Leo Huberman, who fought back successfully. Against these odds, the magazine’s readership and influence grew steadily, and in 1952, Monthly Review Press published its first title, I. F. Stone’s Hidden History of the Korean War. In the subsequent 1960s upsurge against capitalism, imperialism, and inequality, MR played a global role. A generation of activists received no small part of their education as subscribers to the magazine and readers of Monthly Review Press books. In the decades since, with the rise of neoliberalism and successive capitalist crises, MR has kept its commitment both to radical critique and to the building of a just economy and society. [...] TODAY — Under the current editorial committee, led by John Bellamy Foster, the magazine continues its long tradition of analyzing what is new together with the equally vital task of seeing the longer process. That tradition, as summarized by Paul Sweezy, is to see “the present as history.” In 2006, MR began a daily web magazine, MRzine, which in 2017 was migrated to a new project, MR Online, a forum for collaboration and communication between radical activists, writers, and scholars around the world.

Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research is an international, movement-driven institution focused on stimulating intellectual debate that serves people’s aspirations. [...] In January 1966, the Cuban people hosted the Tricontinental, a conference of revolutionary movements from Africa, Asia and Latin America (Primera Conferencia de Solidaridad de Los Pueblos de Africa, Asia, America Latina). This conference emerged from two dynamics.
    * States that emerged out of the anti-colonial movement had, by 1961, created the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which included not only radical regimes but also those with a more conciliatory attitude towards imperialism.
    * Outside NAM existed movements with unfinished anti-colonial wars of national liberation which had a more radical edge to them and which had been gathered together in 1957 in the Afro-Asian People’s Solidarity Organisation (AAPSO).
The NAM and AAPSO platforms often collaborated together. They provided the cultural space from which the Tricontinental would emerge.

[...] Weinstein (1926-2005) was joined in establishing this independent magazine of news, culture and opinion by noted intellectuals Daniel Ellsberg, E.P. Thompson, Noam Chomsky, Barbara Ehrenreich, Julian Bond and Herbert Marcuse, all of whom were among the original sponsors of the magazine (see full list of founding sponsors below). Red Pepper is a quarterly magazine and website of left politics and culture. We’re a socialist publication drawing on feminist, green and anti-racist politics. We seek to be a space for debate on the left, a resource for movements for social justice, and a home for open-minded anti-capitalists.
Red Pepper is completely independent, and while not rejecting party politics, seeks to help build the kind of pluralistic, dynamic movements which can fundamentally challenge our economic system, with its entrenched injustice, structures of power and oppression, and tendency towards war and environmental destruction. UK left-labour & M/L theory focus
Counterfire is a socialist organisation committed to building the biggest possible movements against a system that is creating more and more crisis and misery.
Whether or not we get real change depends on wider struggles in society, it depends on mass movements, popular protests and on workers taking action. We believe that this kind of popular opposition requires a dynamic extra-parliamentary left, rooted in workplaces, communities and colleges.
We also believe that these struggles are connected. Racism, sexism and all oppressions are a product of a society based on the exploitation of workpeople by a tiny minority of capitalists. War, climate change and inequality are all symptoms of a chaotic system based on competition for profits.
In the process of helping to build resistance, Counterfire puts the case for a revolutionary socialism that ultimately seeks popular control of society and genuine liberation for all.

* no "about" page

The Hampton Institute (HI) is a proletarian (working class) think tank that was founded in 2013. In contrast to traditional think tanks, we are a virtual organization that does not have a physical location and does not seek to provide specific policy analysis for political parties. For organizational purposes, our official location is in Albany, New York with a mailing address in Clifton Park, New York. Our chairpersons are located throughout the United States (including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Ohio, Arkansas, Colorado, Texas, Oregon, Hawaii, and California), as well as in Canada (Montreal) and Australia. Our contributors are located all over the world, including South Korea, Japan, Palestine, Syria, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, South Africa, UK, Spain, Germany, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Brazil, and Iceland, among other places.
The HI was founded by Colin Jenkins, a socialist, with the purpose of giving a platform to everyday, working-class people to theorize, comment, analyze, and discuss matters that exist outside the confines of their daily lives, yet greatly impact them on a daily basis. We are named as a tribute to former Black Panther Party member and revolutionary martyr, Fred Hampton, and also take inspiration from Italian Marxist theorist, Antonio Gramsci, and educator and philosopher, Paulo Freire.
We exist to fill the historical void that Gramsci once termed, "Organic Intellectualism" – the collective politicization and critical analysis of and from the working class itself. We are indifferent to traditional structures dominated by the pedigreed and privileged intelligentsia. Our members are passionate and probing members of the commons who believe that intelligent analysis exists throughout the socioeconomic spectrum, and the only thing that separates those who own a public voice and those who do not is varying degrees of privilege. Thus, credentials earned and given through dominant society are often nothing more than products of privilege; and for that reason alone, perspectives and analyses coming from these credentials/privilege are often presented in a way that opposes the public-at-large (the working class). We seek to challenge this embedded, highly controlled, and top-down mode of inquiry by offering an alternative, organic, and bottom-up viewpoint.
We seek to build class consciousness. We seek to end oppressive systems like capitalism, white supremacy, and patriarchy. We seek the liberation of all.
All power to the people.

People’s World is a voice for progressive change and socialism in the United States. It provides news and analysis of, by, and for the labor and democratic movements to our readers across the country and around the world. With a small but dedicated staff, freelance contributors, and a nationwide network of volunteer writers, People’s World presents insights into local, national, and international struggles from the perspectives of those who are experiencing them. It’s an angle you won’t find in the corporate press.
People’s World traces its lineage to the Daily Worker newspaper, founded by communists, socialists, union members, and other activists in Chicago in 1924. On the front page of its first edition, the paper declared that “big business interests, bankers, merchant princes, landlords, and other profiteers” should fear the Daily Worker. It pledged to “raise the standards of struggle against the few who rob and plunder the many.”
The publication has gone through a number of nameplates and mastheads over the years, but that same tradition of fighting, working-class journalism continues.
Today, People’s World offers a daily news platform for the broad labor-led people’s movement—a voice for workers, the unemployed, people of color, immigrants, women, youth, seniors, LGBTQ people, cultural workers, students, and people with disabilities.
People’s World continues to feature Marxist analysis and opinion developed by the Communist Party as well as voices from other currents of the labor and people’s movements.
For almost a century, People’s World and its predecessor publications have taken the side of the 99 percent and worked to promote the struggle for a sustainable environment, jobs, democracy, peace, and equality.

Peace, Land, and Bread is a leading voice of contemporary communist scholarship from the Marxist-Leninist perspective. The print journal is released quarterly, and all of our articles are always free online—we don't believe in paywalls.

Qiao Collective is a diaspora Chinese media collective challenging U.S. aggression on China.
    • We aim to challenge rising U.S. aggression towards the People’s Republic of China and to equip the U.S. anti-war movement with the tools and analysis to better combat the stoking of a New Cold War conflict with China.
    • We seek to be a bridge between the U.S. left and China’s rich Marxist, anti-imperialist political work and thought in order to foster critical consideration of the role of China and socialism with Chinese characteristics in contemporary geopolitics.
    • We aim to disrupt Western misinformation and propaganda and to affirm the basic humanity, subjectivity, and political agency of Chinese people. We believe misinformation, chauvinism, and false equivalencies have weakened the U.S. left’s ability to understand aggression on China in the larger context of Western political, military, and economic imperialism in the Global South. We aim to confront the internalization of U.S. propaganda amongst the U.S. left by critically and realistically examining China’s role in the world struggle against imperialism and capitalism.
    • We work to provide a lens into China’s role in supporting an emerging bloc of independent Global South nations mutually threatened by Western economic, military, and political violence. We are committed to the principles of socialist internationalism and strive towards solidarity and mutual exchange between China in its socialist path and the liberation movements of all Global South and colonized peoples.
    • Qiao Collective is an all-volunteer group made possible by the volunteer work of our members. We are comprised of ethnic Chinese people living across multiple countries. The majority of our members are diaspora Chinese people living in the West. We are a diverse group, including ethnic Chinese people from Southeast Asia, mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

https://www.leftvoice.org/ (Trockist)
Left Voice is a publication by and for those who are fighting for revolutionary socialism.
  • We are workers and students who take part in the struggle in the streets and in our workplaces. We are multi-ethnic, multi-gender, and non-binary. We cover the topics relevant to the working class and oppressed people — including national and international issues — and also publish contributions to these debates from others. But there are some issues that are non-negotiable for us:
  • We are against both the Democrats and Republicans, the two parties of capital and imperialism. We must remember that, both historically and currently, the Democratic Party is the graveyard of social movements. Our fight must be independent of all parties of capitalism, imperialism, and class collaboration.
  • We are anti-imperialists and internationalists. We oppose bombs, borders, sanctions, coups, and the entire imperialist machine, as well as the political parties who build and fund them. We also believe that we must build an international organization, which is why Left Voice is part of the Trotskyist Fraction internationally and part of the La Izquierda Diario news network.
  • We believe the working class, organized in their workplaces, can bring this system to a stop and unite with oppressed people to build a new society. We also fight for every reform that can make the lives of working class and oppressed people’s lives better. And so, we participate in unions, but we fight the union bureaucracy, which sells out workers at every turn.
  • We are against all forms of oppression. Class reductionism isn’t welcome here. We participate in social movements and for the rights of oppressed people; we are active parts of the socialist feminist, environmental, Black Lives Matter, LGTBQ+, immigrants rights movements, and more. But, we also fight against the community bureaucracies, often led by NGOs. These groups and organizations claim to represent the oppressed but are actually proxy representatives of the Democratic Party.
We believe the working class has the power to bring the entire capitalist system to a halt. Because of this, Left Voice believes that an independent organization of the working class and oppressed must lead a revolution. But we can’t wait around for this to be built on its own. We have to take up the preparatory tasks now to ensure that we are ready to meet the moment when it comes. Now is the time to build, strategize, and organize to make it so.
Social media:
Part of an "International Network":
The Network is run by the different member organizations of the  Trotskyist Fraction for the Fourth International:
Argentina: Partido de los Trabajadores Socialistas (PTS), Brazil: Movimento Revolucionário de Trabalhadores (MRT), Chile: Partido de Trabajadores Revolucionarios (PTR), Mexico: Movimiento de Trabajadores Socialistas (MTS), Bolivia: Liga Obrera Revolucionaria (LOR-CI), Spanish State: Corriente Revolucionaria de Trabajadoras y Trabajadores (CRT), France: Courant Communiste Révolutionnaire (CCR), Germany: Revolutionären Internationalistischen Organisation (RIO), United States: Left Voice, Venezuela: Liga de Trabajadores por el Socialismo (LTS), Uruguay: Corriente de Trabajadores Socialistas (CTS) Delegations from Italy also participated in the last international conference held in 2018 in the City of Buenos Aires: Frazione Internazionalista Rivoluzionaria (FIR), Peru: Corriente Socialista de las y los Trabajadores (CST) and Costa Rica: Organización Socialista Revolucionaria.
We live in an era of economic, social, and political crisis — an era which has seen the renewal of worldwide class struggle. These conditions highlight the need to build a movement for a revolutionary socialist international, one that is based on the lived experience of the workers and oppressed peoples who are beginning to confront capitalist governments the world over.
In 2013, our tendency, the Trotskyist Fraction — Fourth International published the Manifesto for a Movement for a Revolutionary Socialist International — Fourth International.

We are a multigenerational, multilingual, Tbilisi based collective. Our goal is to reexamine and re-articulate the history of Soviet Georgia by producing and supporting critical research, including oral and written histories, and a podcast for both Georgian and English speaking audiences.

By documenting the perspectives and stories of Georgia’s aging Soviet generation, exploring underused archives, interviewing long standing experts as well as a a new generation of historians untainted by Cold War anti-communism, it will be possible to tell the story of Soviet Georgia on an array of platforms with the honesty and openness it has yet to be fully afforded. Opening this door to Soviet Georgia's past will not only provide a unique perspective on the Soviet Union as a whole from its historical experience in the South Caucasus, but will also function as a way to better understand Georgia's post-Soviet experience and current economic, social and political condition.

Labor Notes is a media and organizing project that has been the voice of union activists who want to put the movement back in the labor movement since 1979.
Through our magazine, website, books, conferences, and workshops, we promote organizing, aggressive strategies to fight concessions, alliances with worker centers, and unions that are run by their members.
Labor Notes is also a network of rank-and-file members, local union leaders, and labor activists who know the labor movement is worth fighting for. We encourage connections between workers in different unions, worker centers, communities, industries, and countries to strengthen the movement—from the bottom up.
That movement is needed because workers are being hit hard by their employers. We have lower real wages, less job security, and smaller, weaker unions than our mothers and fathers did.
For the most part, our leaders are doing a poor job of navigating us through the crisis. Some can’t get beyond business-as-usual; others see the need to organize by the millions, but don't believe that workers themselves need to have a say in their unions. Some unions operate only to service their members’ bread and butter needs instead of encouraging their involvement in a movement to fight the employer offensive and transform our society.
With 40 years of movement building behind us, Labor Notes exists as a resource for leaders and union members who want to combat these trends and chart a new course for the labor movement.
Labor Notes books and pamphlets are handbooks full of practical guidance on battling the boss. They include best-sellers like A Troublemaker's Handbook 2 and Democracy Is Power, as well as our newest books Secrets of a Successful Organizer and How to Jump-Start Your Union: Lessons from the Chicago Teachers.
Over the years we’ve sold tens of thousands of these strategy manuals to rank-and-file activists hungry to develop new skills and union locals that have worn them out in training classes.
We are now also the publisher of Robert M. Schwartz’s Work Rights Press books, including classics like The Legal Rights of Union Stewards and Just Cause: A Union Guide to Winning Discipline Cases.

The Committee for the Cancellation of the Third World Debt (the CADTM - Comité pour l’annulation de la dette du Tiers Monde) is an international network of individuals and local committees from across Europe and Latin America, Africa and Asia. It was founded in Belgium on 15th March 1990.
The network acts in close liaison with other movements and organisations fighting for the same ideals. Its main preoccupation, besides the debt issue, is the planning of activities and radical alternatives for the creation of a world respectful of people’s fundamental rights, needs and liberties.
The CADTM has always been a pluralist association composed of both private individuals and legally constituted organisations [1]. Its activities take place on the common ground occupied by the battles being waged by grassroots and cultural movements, trade unions, international solidarity committees and development NGOs. It is a member of the international council of the World Social Forum and is fully committed to its role within the international movement of citizens fighting for the “other worlds possible”. This movement is gradually defining a new, alternative form of globalisation, in contrast to that being pushed by those insisting on a globalised neoliberal capitalist model as the ultimate in human happiness, the natural state of society, the “end of history”, the inevitable destiny for all wherever they come from.

weekly worker
Communist Party of Great Britain.
Just like the Socialist Workers Party publishes Socialist Worker and the Socialist Party in England and Wales publishes The Socialist?
Actually, no. Both the SWP and SPEW consider themselves to be the already existing proto-party. Most of the other groups think of themselves in the same way. Because, they believe, they will provide the core of the future mass party, their task is to outpace their rivals and make them irrelevant. Sooner or later, the masses will be won to the one true line and accept the SWP, SPEW (or whatever) as the working class party.
Naturally their papers reflect this sectarianism. Pick up a copy of Socialist Worker or The Socialist and you will only very rarely find even a mention of their main rival. You will never find recognition of papers like the Weekly Worker. All the other groups are, by and large, regarded as distractions - better to pretend they do not really exist than give them undeserved publicity.
We take the diametrically opposite point of view. There is no proto-party, and the main task facing the working class movement is to construct one in the here and now. Week in, week out, the Weekly Worker hammers home this message - in order for our class to make any kind of advance, let alone become the ruling class, it needs a single, united Marxist party.

Are you visiting our site to read trustworthy, informed Left analysis?
You’ve come to the right place. You’ll find smart, readable analysis here.
New Politics, published since 1986 as a semi-annual, follows in the tradition established in its first series (1961-1978) as an independent socialist forum for dialogue and debate on the left. It is committed to the advancement of the peace and anti-intervention movements. It stands in opposition to all forms of imperialism, and is uncompromising in its defense of feminism and affirmative action. In our pages there is broad coverage of labor and social movements, the international scene, as well as emphasis on cultural and intellectual history.
Above all, New Politics insists on the centrality of democracy to socialism and on the need to rely on mass movements from below for progressive social transformation.

Dialectical Materialism there are plenty of left/progressive non-mainstream media sources with decent views on what's happening. Open Democracy, for instance, and NewPol (https://newpol.org/). I'd cite the numerous East European anarchist commentators, but I know you have a strong antipathy towards anarchism, so you'll probably not be interested in those.
Pretty much everyone in journalism (where I work) views Grayzone, Blumenthal, Mate, etc., as utter cranks, as does almost every non-campist leftist I know.

ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War & End Racism) is an anti-war and social justice coalition with organizing centers across the country.
Founded just three days after the September 11, 2001 attacks, ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) initiated the massive U.S. antiwar movement opposing the U.S.invasion of Iraq in the months prior to March 19, 2003.
The ANSWER Coalition demonstration of 200,000 people on October 26, 2002, in Washington, D.C. ignited a nationwide and global antiwar movement that was nearly unprecedented in history. On January 18, 2003, 500,000 people packed the Mall in Washington, D.C. under the slogan “Stop the War Before It Starts.” The Washington Post described the January 18 demonstration as the largest antiwar protest since the end of the Vietnam War.
ANSWER has mobilized against the illegal coup and UN occupation of Haiti, against the illegal blockade of Cuba, and the illegal 'regime change' war on Libya.
We are actively fighting against the ongoing occupation of Afghanistan, the renewed assaults on Iraq and Syria, the drone attacks on Yemen, Pakistan and Somalia, among others.
In recent years, March Forward!, an affiliate of the ANSWER Coalition, has brought together anti-war veterans and active-duty service members to fight for their rights and oppose U.S. wars of aggression.

Socialist Appeal is a Marxist organisation which stands for the socialist transformation of society. Get in touch today and join us in the fight for revolution.
Socialist Appeal is the Marxist tendency in Britain. Marxism has a long history within the labour movement, providing a class analysis of events.
Reformists look to patch up capitalism. They want a nicer, kinder capitalism. But this is impossible. Capitalism is crumbling, experiencing the deepest of all crises. It cannot be reformed.
Marxists, in contrast, believe that the problems of the working class can only be resolved by the overthrow of capitalism. We therefore stand for the socialist transformation of society - in Britain and internationally.
As Marxists, we stand for the ideas of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Trotsky. These ideas provide us with an understanding of capitalism, and of the strategy needed to fight for world socialist revolution. That is why theory is vital - as the key to understanding the past, present and future.
As internationalists, we work with activists from the International Marxist Tendency, in order to fight for these ideas on a world scale.
We are facing revolutionary crises across the planet. The consciousness of the working class is being radically transformed.
The difference between reformism and Marxism can be seen as the difference between foresight over astonishment. We can see the massive class struggles ahead, in which the task of transforming society along socialist lines will be posed.
In Britain, the immediate task facing us is the building of a powerful Marxist tendency that can intervene in these struggles - in the mass movements of workers and youth. We must create a leadership that is prepared to go all the way, to the end.
This will not happen by itself. Every worker, student, unemployed person – young and old – must get involved in this fight to change society. Don’t stand on the sidelines – your help is needed!

Five mega-corporations dominate the media landscape — controlling 90% of what we read, watch and listen to. They control the news cycle, to which social media and even most “alternative” media is forced to respond.
We are breaking through that cycle. We tell the untold stories of resistance from poor and working-class communities — because out of these stories we will construct a different narrative of the world, as it is and in real time.
People’s movements in every corner of the globe are changing history and shifting consciousness. But these movements barely receive any coverage from the corporate media. They need visibility. They need amplification. They need a media arm to break through.
Well-designed, seems focused on producing appeal

The Orinoco Tribune will defend the causes of the less privileged, the Chavistas, the working class, the peasant movements, the anti-imperialists, and those who have been denied access to the media, and we will reject any content replicating smearing campaigns, imperialist narratives, or destructive criticism, because you can find that at any time in mainstream media when looking for information about Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, Iran, Syria, North Korea, and many other countries that do not bend to US global dictatorship.
We are trying to rescue all the information and debates from Chavismo that usually do not reach the exterior world due to the lack of translation and the blockade against our country. The blog "In Defense of Communism", edited in crisis-ridden Greece, aims in supporting and promoting the continuous advancement of the class struggle against the rotten capitalist system.
What We Do: The magazine
Labor Notes is best known for our monthly magazine of the same name. We report news about workers that the mainstream media doesn't find worth printing—from workers’ point of view. We explore the trends that are keeping workers on the defensive and analyze labor’s responses: what’s working and what’s not? And as an independent publication, we’re free to include the voices who say we could be doing better—and tell how.
In Labor Notes, you'll find reports on inventive organizing tactics and contract campaigns. You’ll read coverage of the people who are working to kick some life into their unions and put their fellow workers in the driver’s seat. You'll read sometimes shocking stories of workers’ struggles abroad, and inspiring stories of solidarity.

The Left Chapter is a website created by Michael Laxer that shares news, opinion, events, videos, fiction & poetry and food writing from a leftist perspective.
This website is an evolution after five years of the blog https://theleftchapter.blogspot.com.
Contributions from all leftist perspectives are welcome and can be sent to theleftchapter@outlook.com.

Left Socialist Review
The ISR is dedicated to advancing socialist theory and practice in the U.S. and internationally. We stand in the International Socialist tradition, affirming our commitment to “socialism from below,” the self-emancipation of workers and the oppressed, the struggle against imperialism and for national liberation, and the building of a socialist current rooted in all of those struggles. We hope that the ISR will provide a forum for the development of an open and critical Marxist analysis of the challenges and opportunities that confront the left and social movements in the 21st century. We welcome contributions from all who are committed to that project and vision. The ISR is published quarterly by the Center for Economic Research and Social Change.
however, DEFUNCT in 2019
We regret to announce that the International Socialist Review, a project of the Center for Economic Research and Social Change (CERSC), is suspending publication after twenty-two years. We thank our subscribers, readers, and authors for their contributions and support. We hope that other publications will continue to carry the legacy of Marxist theory, analysis, and politics to future radicalizing generations.
CERSC is committed to maintaining ISR online access at www.isreview.org until the end of this year and will locate an appropriate host for the archive.

Re-Established in 2018 with help of Jacobin
Tribune was established in 1937 as a socialist magazine that would give voice to the popular front campaigns against the rising tide of fascism in Europe. For eighty years it has been at the heart of left-wing politics in Britain, counting giants of the labour movement like Aneurin Bevan and Michael Foot among its former editors.
Over the decades Tribune has campaigned for socialist ideals inside and outside parliament. It championed the cause of the Spanish Republic abroad and the National Health Service at home. Tribunite Jennie Lee wrote in its pages about the need to democratise culture, before going on to found the Open University as a pioneering Minister for the Arts.
Barbara Castle was a columnist for many years, arguing for legal recognition of women’s equality before introducing the Equal Pay Act in 1970. Tribune also contributed to the struggle against apartheid in South Africa, offering its pages to Albert Luthuli of the ANC as early as 1961, and to the fight against colonialism, with Jawaharlal Nehru making the case for Indian independence as far back as 1938.
In culture, too, Tribune blazed a trail, with George Orwell spending many years as literary editor, and writers from Upton Sinclair to HG Wells, Doris Lessing, George Bernard Shaw, and Seán O’Casey finding a home in its pages.
Tribune was relaunched as a print magazine and website with the support of Jacobin in 2018, and its new team is committed to reviving this great tradition on the British left. Our mission remains, as Michael Foot wrote on the magazine’s 21st birthday, “to sustain the old cause with the old weapons.”

Information, activism & resistance to U.S. militarism, war & corporate greed, linking with struggles against racism & oppression within the United States
The International Action Center is committed to building broad-based grassroots actions opposing U.S. wars abroad while fighting racism and economic exploitation of workers at home. With every mobilization or campaign, the IAC strives to connect struggles and bring together communities of color, women, lesbian, gay, bi and trans people, youth and students, immigrant and workers’ organizations in order to build a progressive movement for social justice and change.
Our goal: work toward the liberation of all peoples living in the U.S. and around the world.
The IAC is “anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist.” We strive to end human suffering caused by living under a system that puts profit before people’s needs. The multi-national corporations and banks based in the U.S., Europe and Japan extract resources and debt payments from the rest of the world. The Pentagon and CIA protect their wholesale plunder.
The best way to fight U.S. imperialism abroad is to stand in full solidarity with people of color living within U.S. borders. Fighting against racism at home must be foremost in the minds and hearts of all who call themselves anti-war activists.

Notes from Below is a publication that is committed to socialism, by which we mean the self-emancipation of the working class from capitalism and the state. To this end we use the method of workers’ inquiry. We draw our methods and theory from the class composition tradition, which seeks to understand and change the world from the worker’s point of view. We want to ground revolutionary politics in the perspective of the working class, help circulate and develop struggles, and build workers’ confidence to take action by and for themselves.
We argue that an understanding of ‘class composition’, that is to say, how the classes within society are formed and operate, is an essential task for contemporary socialist militants if we are to develop strategies adequate to our moment without relying solely upon the past for guidance.

if Pompeo says it's bad, it's gotta be good, right?
Over the past decade and particularly under General Secretary Xi Jinping’s tenure, the CCP has reorganized China’s state propaganda outlets disguised as news agencies and asserted even more direct control over them. He has stated “Party-owned media must. . . embody the party’s will, safeguard the party’s authority … their actions must be highly consistent with the party.” In short, while Western media are beholden to the truth, PRC media are beholden to the Chinese Communist Party.

The newspaper Solidaridad Obrera was first published on 19 October 1907, in Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain) as the mouthpiece of the Solidaridad Obrera federation and has been published, in different forms up to today, now consisting of an online version as well as a print-version that has a print-run of 5,000 copies that have been distributed for free since 2005.

Welcome to Peace News, the newspaper for the UK grassroots peace and justice movement.
We seek to oppose all forms of violence, and to create positive change based on cooperation and responsibility.
"Peace News has compiled an exemplary record... its tasks have never been more critically important than they are today." Noam Chomsky
Published since 1936, Peace News is the UK’s only grassroots newspaper covering the full spectrum of peace and justice issues. We have a staff of six part-time workers and currently publish 6 bi-monthly issues a year. Peace News Ltd is a not-for-profit limited company.
Peace News opposes the brutal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan – and throughout the world – and the retention and renewal of nuclear weapons in the shape of Trident.
But these are only the most extreme forms of the violence which is inherent in our society.
This violence manifests also as sexism, racism, homophobia, hunger, inequality, corporate domination, government repression and the exploitation of people, animals and the environment.
Peace News seeks to oppose all forms of violence, and to create positive change based on  co-operation and responsibility. To create a nonviolent world, we believe we must avoid violence in our struggle for change.
Peace News draws on the traditions of pacifism, feminism, anarchism, socialism, human rights, animal rights and green politics – without dogma, but in the spirit of openness.

Against the Grain is a radio and web media project whose aim is to provide in-depth analysis and commentary on a variety of matters — political, economic, social, and cultural — important to progressive and radical thinking and activism.
ATG focuses on meaty theoretical and action-oriented issues that the mainstream media tends to ignore, matters like political economy, the global justice movement, philosophical and cultural ideas, and race and gender relations. We strive to bring these perspectives to the airwaves in a way that’s accessible, engaging, and, most of all, useful to people working for social change.

openDemocracy is an independent global media organisation.
Through reporting and analysis of social and political issues, we seek to educate citizens to challenge power and encourage democratic debate across the world. You can read our annual report for 2019 here and our strategic plan for 2020-22 here.

We are alternative because we seek out viewpoints that are not represented in traditional media.
Some say we are radical because we believe it’s important to consider opposing viewpoints, and thus we strive to publish articles that represent the entire political spectrum.

We take our inspiration from the movements of our time, publishing writing that reflects and clarifies the creative intelligence at work within them. The answers are in the streets.
Our print magazine is published four times per year. It can be found wherever enemies of the current order gather.

(!) 2022/03: shit-takes regarding Russia-Ukraine
[!] but, a lot of content to sieve, check sources ... periphery→core essay-prone intellectuals? ???
The anarchist Mikhail Bakunin—both a political rival of Marx in the First International and translator of the first Russian edition of Capital, Vol. I—once mocked the intellectualism of his Marxist opponents by quipping “we have too many ideas and not enough action”.
Today the situation seems to be the opposite. Direct action after direct action, dedicated leftists put their bodies on the line without anything resembling a convincing vision of a better world. This is no one individual’s failure, but an inevitable result of the collapse of working-class power and socialist politics in the late 20th century. Communism—the vision of humanity emancipated from class society—is generally disregarded as a fantasy, or even as undesirable in principle. At best it is the silent God of a negative theology, a desperate mantra of abstract negation with no plausible hope to be found in the existing tendencies of capitalist society. Consigned by post-structuralism and marginalist economics to an obsolete micro-niche in humanities departments, academic marxism—even on the rare occasion it can genuinely help us understand the world—is as detached from the goal of classless society on paper as it is in reality. A leftist politics this disoriented is about as likely to achieve basic democratic reforms as it is to implement a world socialist republic.
Scientific socialism
To orient ourselves in a direction towards universal human emancipation, we must rebuild the approach of scientific socialism. While the term ‘scientific socialism’ has historically become synonymous with Soviet state ideology—and if the name Lysenko rings any bells, the most rankly opportunistic pseudoscience—we believe that it is a concept worth upholding. Peddling ideological snake oil to a desperate public does nothing to change the world and advance humanity. Abstract ideals about the way things ought to be do not suffice when the agents of capital—the capitalists, their state, their ideologues—use all scientific means at their disposal. Marx and Engels created scientific socialism to argue for a socialism based in reason—a socialism with a rigorous analysis of both existing material conditions and history, with an eye towards how to use the best of humanity’s capacities to transform the world. They developed their ideas through critique and deliberation with the socialists of their time who had internalized capitalist ideology or failed to make their visions politically possible. In this process, Marx and Engels developed not only a Marxist political strategy, but also a materialist conception of history that—if used properly—is a weapon for the proletariat in its struggle for communism.
Platform of debate
Therefore it is necessary for Marxists of all backgrounds and skills to develop intellectual institutions independent of academia, wherein communists can develop their vision, strategy, and overall critique of capitalist society. Cosmonaut aims to be one of (what should be) many different platforms of debate, where scientific socialists can develop an analysis of history, critique the prevailing ideological “common sense” of our time, and conceive a programmatic communist politics relevant to our circumstance.
Marxist polemics
Because no one genius will figure out all the answers to the questions facing revolutionaries, we must understand that knowledge is a collective process of debate and deliberation. So while we aim to stand as close as possible to the programmatic communist commitments of Marx and Engels, we reject an approach that divines the definitive ‘red thread’ tradition as an abstract set of principles to follow and evangelize. We seek to develop a Marxism for the 21st century which will be based on a scientific inquiry of history and present conditions through a process of collective discussion and debate, not dogma based on fidelity to what this or that Great Man said so many years ago. Our organizing principles are internationalism over all standing armies and borders; building class-independent, democratic institutions; and a vision of a future where the world is a classless community of humanity, finally free of exploitation and oppression—communism.

NY-based "progressive" media with some well researched and good takes in off-season, but always falling in line with establishment american imperialist shit takes
Principled. Progressive. The Nation speaks truth to power to build a more just society.
Home to tenacious muckraking, provocative commentary, and spirited debate about politics and culture, The Nation empowers readers to fight for justice and equality for all. By providing a deeper understanding of the world as it is—and as it could be—we drive bold ideas into the conversation and ignite debates far beyond our pages.
We believe in intellectual freedom. We value facts and transparency. We argue that dissent is patriotic and we hold the powerful to account, no matter their political persuasion. We raise up the promise of a radical tomorrow while we agitate for meaningful change today. Above all, we aspire to galvanize a more informed public—one equipped with a more profound understanding of events, ideas, and history.
Founded by abolitionists in 1865, we’ve long believed that independent journalism has the capacity to bring about a more democratic and equitable world. Our writers shift paradigms and open minds. Our deep investigative reporting launches congressional hearings, forces policy change, and shapes news cycles. Instigating progress: It’s not only our legacy, it’s our continued commitment to future generations of torchbearers.

Les Echos is the first daily French financial newspaper, founded in 1908 by the brothers Robert and Émile Servan-Schreiber. It is the main competitor of La Tribune, a rival financial paper.
In 2000 Les Echos was the sixth best-selling newspaper in France with a circulation of 728,000 copies.[13] The 2009 circulation of the paper was 127,000 copies.[7] From July 2011 to July 2012 the paper had a circulation of 120,546 copies.[14]

"The New Republic is an American magazine of commentary on politics, contemporary culture, and the arts. Founded in 1914 by several leaders of the progressive movement, it attempted to find a balance between a humanitarian progressivism and an intellectual scientism, and ultimately discarded the latter.[3] Through the 1980s and 1990s, the magazine incorporated elements of the Third Way and conservatism.[4]"

    (!) seems like outlet for periphery→core synthetic-left shit-takes
LeftEast is a place where various voices, efforts and groups from around the region, broadly understood, come together in a sustained analytical and political effort. This is a platform where our common struggles and political commitments come together beyond the national borders or the straightjacket of national languages. Therefore, this platform is a political act. Ideologically, it is explicitly left-wing in orientation, that is, left of the classical social democracy. Nonetheless, it aims to remain largely inclusive and open, accommodating enough strands of the contemporary left without losing the critical edge and while maintaining a dynamic environment for intellectual conversations.
This is not an academic platform. Neither is it simply a news agency for the lefties about the region. It seeks to offer a mixture of theoretically – and analytically – informed contributions about current matters, local but not parochial, seeking to engage audiences beyond the national publics and beyond the academic circles. It aims to inform, illuminate and mobilize.
The aim is to constitute an alternative to the way we see the region but also to the type of intellectual production historically associated to this part of the world. Therefore, the platform seeks to publish not only regular analytical productions, but also interviews, reportages, conference reports, travelogues, cultural commentaries, videos and so on. Ideally these contributions should be originals as much as possible, but of course there is no limit to texts already published elsewhere as long as those who propose the texts manage to secure proper approval. Most of the texts published elsewhere first appear under the Insert section.
Largely, LeftEast has primarily a technical function: gathering of quality texts, providing the necessary editorial support, making them available to the public. We do not claim the role of a politically directive organ. Nevertheless, authors should self-consciously adhere to the minimal and implicit set of rules of the website (ideological consistency, quality of writing, informed theoretical contributions and commentary, meaningfulness and anti-parochialism among the most important). We reserve the right to decline texts that don’t conform to them. Alternatively, if there are issues to be addressed, the LeftEast editorial collective will raise the matter with the author(s) of the texts or with the people who suggested them. In either case, however, the final decision for publication rests entirely with LeftEast.

    anything goes???
n+1 is a print and digital magazine of literature, culture, and politics published three times a year. We also post new online-only work several times each week and publish books expanding on the interests of the magazine.
n+1 was founded in New York City in 2004 by six young writers and editors who wanted to revive the American tradition of politically engaged literary magazines. At the time, the intellectual scene felt disturbingly fragmented and drained of vitality: political magazines didn’t care about literature, literary magazines didn’t discuss politics, and big ideas had to be buried in tiny book reviews. The founding editors wanted to make a magazine that could encompass all the subjects they cared about—one that didn’t shy away from difficult and ambitious writing, and that saw literature, politics, and culture as aspects of the same project.

    anything goes
Roar News is King’s College London’s multi-award-winning tabloid for students. It leads the news agenda at the university with exclusive stories and classic tabloid campaigning, bringing students, staff and alumni everything they need to know about King’s. In April 2015 Roar was crowned the best student paper in the country. Roar is editorially independent of the university and the Students’ Union and is staffed entirely by students. The team consists of reporters, editors, sub-editors, photographers and designers.

(!) policy research, not ideologically left but seems like "objective realism"
The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a bipartisan, nonprofit policy research organization dedicated to advancing practical ideas to address the world’s greatest challenges.
CSIS’s purpose is to define the future of national security. We are guided by a distinct set of values—non-partisanship, independent thought, innovative thinking, cross-disciplinary scholarship, integrity and professionalism, and talent development. CSIS’s values work in concert toward the goal of making real-world impact.
CSIS scholars bring their policy expertise, judgment, and robust networks to their research, analysis, and recommendations. We organize conferences, publish, lecture, and make media appearances that aim to increase the knowledge, awareness, and salience of policy issues with relevant stakeholders and the interested public.
CSIS has impact when our research helps to inform the decisionmaking of key policymakers and the thinking of key influencers. We work toward a vision of a safer and more prosperous world.
