Atmospheric Measurement Program (AMP)

2016→

→→ TOZ ₂₀₁₉#AMP#performance#multiple#2019

A transmedia project in which atmospheres are measured and visualised as graphical, audio-visual or exhibitional-representations.

In 2014 AMP started as a series of scripts that described procedures to visualise the personal and the subjective versus what is commonly accepted as truth. I did this by looking into different spheres (such as the social, the optical and the biological) and proposed a variety of visualisation processes. None of the scripts held real scientific value, but all were operational on the level of symbolic meaningmaking.

In collaboration with Katinka de Jonge and from 2016 - 2017, AMP transformed into a performative body of work in which absurdist bureaucratic situations analysed the state of affairs of different (art-)institutions and their visitors. We produced ample works that involved the performative contributions of those audiences, created tokens for their personal experiences and set up a series of scenographic installations in which the measurements took place. AMP then mutated into Wellness Centre Future Proof.

In 2019 I started working on Relations2Aesthetics (R2A), an in-AMP label for collaborative productions that again looks at the mutual influence of personal and common spheres. It is rooted in notions such as peer2peer(left) etnography and makes use of both surveys and scripts.

Today (2021) I am gathering archive materials from older and current works, to retrospectively transcribe them into scripts. Those should ultimately be folded back under this label and get a place in the (reorganized) R2A index.
