SORRY

2013 - 2018
https://sorry.hotglue.me

Sorry was an artistic body in which a variety of artists could gather and propose collaborative works. Often deriving strategies from counter-culture, the works offered alternatives to the romantized solitary practice in which an artists' style becomes mere personal branding. It broke with the typical individualist authorship of the artworld.

Sorry choose specifically not to be labeled as a collective, a "fixed collection of sub-identies", but rather operated as an open entity that produced works with the aim to be replicated by others.

Sorry was active between 2013 - 2018 and "always under construction". Via a variety of ad hoc actions, performances, events, situations and groupings, it hosted a constant minimun of 3 up to 5 artists with a studio space, "The Pinkhouse", and a broad range of artistic collaborations with accompliced artists, like "The Pinkparade", "Chaos Yoga", "Trojan Summer", etc.

As a cooperative Sorry also created jobs in the twilight zones between artistic production and typical "reproductive labour". For instance the catering on cultural events, via "Skybox", "De Snakbar" and even with "Wellness Centre Future Proof" offererd payed work to at least 50 artists. Sorry hosted a vegetarian open kitchen and art space called "De Belly", in which different food collectives worked on their projects. It also lodged muscisians from nearby concert halls (with Het Bos & Kraakrecords) in their shared living and workspace, "The Pinkhouse".
###L: change "offered" into "supported" / "made"/"created"/...

Furthermore it set up a broad scope of critical artistic events such as the "Werken is Misdaad" multi-format series on Sunday afternoon in De Belly, the "Underground connection as artistic strategy"-masterclass and "Wij eisen IJs", a transmedia and transdisciplinary story about climate emergency in the context of an ice-cream parlor.

Ultimately the artists who made Sorry operational stopped using it as a name. They took fragments of the work done and brought it to different people in different places, using different names. They did not want to apologize any longer for the deeds necessary to be done. "Sorry for the world, the world for Sorry" was the last statement with which they split, but leaving the door open for any artist to enter...
